Beanfield is a privately held Canadian-operated company with more than 500 employees. They build, own and operate the largest independent fibre-optic network in Toronto and Montreal, with recent expansion to Vancouver.
StrataPrime helped Toronto ISP Beanfield Technologies migrate from a custom Dovecot mail system to Google Workspace. Managing this complex project, and overcoming challenges posed by Beanfield’s legacy infrastructure to ensure a seamless transition.

The Challenge
The migration of Beanfield’s highly customized Dovecot mail system to Google Workspace posed a significant technical hurdle. The legacy system’s unique configurations and rules required careful analysis and adaptation. Additionally, the unstructured user data, with inconsistent folders and labels, demanded a thoughtful approach to ensure a smooth transition and preserve a familiar user experience.
The Solution
Close customer collaboration: Our team worked directly with Beanfield to understand their unique requirements and design alternative solutions within Google Workspace that would maintain or improve functionality.
Custom scripting for data cleanup: We developed tailored scripts to identify, clean up, and re-label user folders, ensuring a smooth transition and familiar user experience.
The Result
The Migration was a success and in the process we were able to deliver an awesome customer experience.
“It was a pleasure working with the entire Strataprime team. Thank you for delivering a great migration for our team.” – Alfred Ng, Chief Technology Officer.
