BYOD Strategy and Rollout – Canadian Bank

The Challenge
Other Financial Institutions within Canada had already embraced a BYOD strategy and the bank was interested in pursuing a new mobility strategy for its employees. The bank had many aspects of its operations in common with its peers, including a typical corporate-liable smartphone program. However, because their corporate program was quite generous the bank felt that it would be difficult to migrate from a corporate-liable program to BYOD.

While its current corporate-liable program was generous, mobile adoption was less than other peers in comparison. This was as a result of very tight eligibility management for the program. As part of a new strategy, the bank wanted to expand mobile adoption broadly across the organization. Financially, the bank was seeking to achieve greater mobility for its employees at roughly the same cost as its existing corporate-liable program. In other words, more mobile enabled employees without increasing cost over a 5 year NPV business case.

How StrataPrime Helped
With its industry leading knowledge and experience, StrataPrime first conducted an assessment to determine if BYOD or a hybrid BYOD program was right for the bank. A detailed present state analysis indicated that the bank was well positioned to expand employee mobility through a BYOD program. StrataPrime then helped the bank’s key stakeholders and program owners to develop and socialize a strategy. Further, StrataPrime led the creation of the financial case that supported the strategy.

The Result
The bank has decided to proceed with a BYOD program beginning in late 2015. StrataPrime is proud to be the consulting partner on this program. In this capacity, StrataPrime will be responsible for delivering all aspects of the bank’s new BYOD and mobile first initiative.
